Amy Slaton is ready to move on after her divorce.
More than a year after her ex-husband Michael Halterman filed for divorce, the 1000-Lb. Sisters star shared insight into her next chapter. And as she admits in an exclusive preview of the Oct. 8 season six premiere, she’s still working through the emotional toll of living in the house she shared with her ex.
“I want to get rid of these couches because they remind me of Michael,” Amy tearfully tells her sister Amanda Halterman in the exclusive clip. “I can't stand them and I want to get rid of them.”
And Amy’s sister encouraged her to believe that she is strong enough to rise above her pain.
“You're going to have to make new memories here that shoves the bad ones out,” Amanda said. “You don't give yourself enough credit. You can do this.”
In spite of her aching heart, Amy—who stars on the show alongside her sister Tammy Slaton—is determined to focus on her healing.
“Right now, I'm just going to focus on me, my mental health, my physical health, my outer appearance,” Amy, who is mom to kids Gage Deon, 3, and Glenn Allen, 2, continued in the clip. “I'm ready to change up the hair color. I just want to get some new hair and get rid of all this excess skin.”
And skin removal—a common cosmetic procedure for people who experience significant weight loss—will be a major topic this season for both Amy and her sister Tammy, who recently celebrated losing a total of 500 pounds.
“I'm just ready to start a new life and I need to have skin removal,” Amy shared. “I feel like a deflated balloon. Hopefully I'll get approved for the skin removal because I'm struggling right now to love myself.”
But despite her difficult health journey, Amy is determined to see herself in a great light. “Eventually I'm going to get there,” she said. “Eventually I'm going to find a way to love myself.”
Meanwhile, Amy is also privately working through her Sept. 2 arrest at a Tennessee zoo for drug possession and child endangerment. After Amy suffered a camel bite at Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, Tenn., authorities arrived to treat her and allegedly discovered illegal marijuana and mushrooms, leading to them taking her and Brian Scott Lovvorn into custody. Following their arrests, Amy and Brian were released on a $10,000 bond.
E! News has reached out to the Crockett County Sheriff's Department and TLC for comment but has not yet heard back.
Season six of 1000-Lb. Sisters premieres Oct. 8 on TLC.
